Can the BO XI Import Wizard be used to export to a BIAR while the BO Enterprise Servers are active?
We have tried to create a BIAR a couple of times and both times the BO XI Import Wizard either hung of stoppped completely.
We ran the BO XI Import Wizard again today at 1414 for the partial export only, with the following items selected for the export:
1. Import folders and objects (both subcategories selected)
1a. Import discussions associated with the selected reports
1b. Import application folders and objects
2. Import encyclopedia objects
This resulted in a display of the following items on the summary screen prior to commencing with the export:
72 Folders selected
1 Object package selected
47,115 Objects selected
3 Shortcuts selected
23 application objects selected
The actual import progression began at 1426. As of 1531, the Object export was up to 33,030 objects and the BIAR export file was approximately 658 MB in size. At 1532, the Import Wizard closed itself again with no errors and nothing written to the server's logs. It appears we'll definitely have to attempt the export during off-peak hours to see if this makes any difference. We also need to determine which BO XI services, if any, can be shutdown during the actual export process (i.e. while running the BO XI Import Wizard utility).

Absolutely, you can use Import wizard to export to .biar file with your serices running. It is better that you split the total export into peices. For example: you can export all the universes once, you can export all the documents once etc.
Exporting everything in one .biar file can cause the Import wizard to freeze.
Hope this helps.
