Hello,
we want to develop an application which runs on a device with a larger screen than a PDA. Unfortunately we cannot develop for devices like Gotive or Skyepad because they use Windows CE which is not supported by SAP. So we are thinking about using the development for Laptops and run the application on a Tablet PC with Windows XP Tablet Edition.
Is this supported by SAP ?
Thanks alot,
Björn Seiffert
Hello
thanks for your reply. You say that it "should not cause any problems". I think so, too.
But do you know if Windows XP for Tablet PC is officially supported by SAP?
Regards,
Björn

Good to know. Thanks, Julien.
One last question
What do you mean with "unsupported world" ? Are there possibilities to connect unsupported devices to the DOE ? If yes, do you know how to do this ?

Hello Björn,
yes this is possible. SAP NetWeaver Mobile is an open platform which allows you to connect unsupported devices.
SAP provides mobile clients for Laptops ( Windows ) and also for Handhelds ( Windows Mobile ). They are both based on Java.
But you could also develop an own client for different devices (e.g Nokia, Android) or different technologies (e.g. .Net).
SAP NetWeaver Mobile provides open interfaces for interoperability with mobile platforms form other vendors.
Best Regards,
Stefan
Hello,
As Stephan confirmed, you can create new client application for existing platform as well as non supported platform. You can get in touch with me and I can give you an overview of this or maybe Stephan can help you too.
Thank you,
Julien.

Hello,
The use of a tablet PC is really exactly the same as a Windows XP system, so developing a NW 7.1 application using the Windows XP framework should not cause any problem.
Please keep in mind that the UI is then difficult to alter afterward. So if you need to use the touch screen of the tablet with your hands, the WDP UI might not be big enough.
There is other possibilities... if you are keen to adventure in unsupported world.
Thank you,
Julien.
