Hi Gurus,

I am for the first time getting involved in Data migration project in SD .

My question is what are the things that i need to Plan for Migration activities

1. Do i require technical team ?

2. how do we upload open sales orders, customer master data ?

Hello,

If you are only uploading less number of data that too master data, you may do it with LSMW, doesn't require ABAP help. If you have large volume of data then you need to use BDC which needs ABAP coding.

In most of the companies, there will be programs to upload data. For Sales document upload, normally BDC will be used.

For master datas, QTP, LSMW can be used.

Hi,

Data migration can be done as mentioned by Prasanth either through LSMW, or through BDC.

Just to add a little more into it, that in case of BDC you might require ABAPer to write a program or i say customized program which will cater to your needs during data migration, like what sort of data are you looking at, and how it will be transfered from one server to another server.

-->Yes you require Technical team also to develop the up load program like BDC

-->You can upload Open sales orders through BDC

-->You can upload customer master through LSMW

can i know how to find for the existence of a specific program.

i need to check whetehre there are any upload program exist in our system for uploading open sales orders.

It will be essential to take help from Abaper. An abaper will be able to explain the coding. If functional consultant knows Abap, in that case even functional consultanr can read the coding.
