Create a new cube and load data

Hi ,

I am very new to SAP BW and want to know how can we create a new cube and load data.

We have to copy a existing cube and create new cube, transfer rules,update rules every thing and load data to the new cube .

Please provide me the step by step processs.

Hi

You have to do this sequence fo steps:

1) go to SOurce Cube, right click and select 'Generate Export Data Source'

2) Go to SOurce Systems, pick the BW Self , right click and Replicate data sources.

3) GO to target cube, create update rules and select source as your source cube.

Now, go to infosources, data marts, 8<source_cube_name> and create infopackage and load data.

Hi you have to follow this steps if you are in 3.X ..

1.Create new cube with copy from older one

2. Say export data source on older IC (DS gets generated with 8 prefix and technical name of IC: 8ZODSOLD)

3. Create infosource, assign exported datasource to infosurce

4. Define update rules between infosource and new IC

5. Create infopackage and schedule the data load

and another way is ...

The steps for copying the contents of one cube to another:

1. Go to Manage -> Recontruct of the new cube.

2. Select the "selection button"(red , yellow, blue diamond button).

3.In the selection screen you can give the technical name of the old cube, requests ids you want to load, from & to date.

4.Execute and the new cube would be loaded.

Apologies i missed out one thing . i have to addd one new filed also in the cube and load the data.

Probelm solved. Now the new filed is in the cube with data.

Now my problem is how to add that field in the report.

you can add that field..but you have to reload the data once again...means full data upload should happen if you have added a new field...

delta upload of data will not prove to be correct

could you pls give me some step by step document for :

Creating a new cube from an existing cube structure and then adding new filed to the new cube and then changes in every step like transfer rules,update rules ,and finaly to get the new filed in the cube and also data for that field. It is full load. No deltas

and this is only for a cube no ods there.

Hi

Adding a new filed in 3.5 requires you to delete data.

You can add the field directly into the cube

Delta will not be disturbed

Info Cube edit screen -

Add the required field

Assign field to the Dimension

Activate the Cube

If you have the field in ODS

you can map it with the new field in the update rules from ODS to Cube

Activate the update rules

after this you can load data as usual

or

1. Delete the data from that info Cube.

2. Add the required filed to the Info Cube.

3. Assign a dimension ..

4. check and Activate it.
