Hi,

IXOS and Opentext Livelink is basically the one and the same. Basically they are 3rd party SAP cerrtified archiving softwares.

IXOS was bough by a company called opentext.

For details on SAP and Opentext, please follow this link - Opentext is a SAP Partner now.

http://www.opentext.com/2/partners/strategic-partners/part-strat-sap2.htm

For why and how IXOS moved into Opentext - check this link.

Hope this helps.

Gurus:

Our company uses LiveLink as an access to company's document.

However, I do not see any link between the LiveLink and OPENTEXT archiving ability.

In other words, I do not how can the LiveLink be used to do data archiving.

Would you please explain? Thanks!

SAP links to Livelink through the content repositories (trans: OAC0) and using DocuLink. Does you SAP currently connect to Livelink or is this something you're looking to start doing?

You'll need to look through your documentation but the basic idea is as follows.

In Livelink Archive Administration console under Servers:

Add your R/3 Systems

Add R/3 Gateways

Under the archive you need to configure the R/3 system configuration panel

In SAP:

Create an entry in OAC0 for each archive (SAP calls the Livelink archives Content Repositories).

Create document types in OAC2 and link them to the content repositories.

In OAC3 link content repositories to document types and business objects.

If in Livelink you don't see R/3 Systems or R/3 Gateways you need to install the SAP support (assuming you purchased it).

In SAP you may want/need to install DocuLink. This involves importing some transports provided by OpenText.
