where do we attach a production memo

where do we write a production memo.in the sales order or at material level.

You maintain the "production" at sales order line item level then it will be copied into production order.

In transaction CO03 in the screepainter SE51 there is a tab strip defined called 'Production Memo

Production Memo text tab is only accessible if there is text entered in the corresponding Sales Order order at item level. So it comes from sales order level.
