On Flat File Upload

I have to load a flat file in BI from an External Data Base and they want to use FTP to post the file in a shared folder. Where should i ask them to post it so that i can access it in the BI Data source.

Hi Rashmi,

Please file at application server(TCode: AL11). Check with your Basis team and ask them to create a separate folder. load from there... from application server you can use process chain also to load data. From desk top you can not.

So should the FTP portocol be written in such a way that it dumps the file into a new directory created in AL11. Can you elaborate on this more.

Yes Rashmi,

FTP can be done manually or can be automated with some scripts... check with your basis ... you just provide them proper path and folder name at application server.
