Dear All,
Can anybody help me out explaining the difference between "Vacant" position and "unoccupied" position.
What is the utility of marking a position as "Vacant" because even if the position is unoccupied, it is equal to being a vacant though actually not marked as vacant in the "Vacancy" infotype and a person can occupy it.
Points would be awarded.
Thanks
Deepali
Hi Deepali,
Vacancy info type is used if you are implementing Recruitment module.
Thus, you can assign the applicants to positions only if they are vacant.
However, in general, even if you're not using Recruitment, it is a good practice to use Vacancy info type for positions.
Acticate/deactivate vacancy infotype thru table T77S0 ->
PPVAC PPVAC 1
PPVAC PREF X

Hi Dilek,
Thanks for the reply. My doubt is even if ive not marked any position as vacanct, am able to have the position status as unoccupied and hire a person on that position.
You mean to say is that the moment a position is created, it has to be marked as vacant until a person is assigned to it, right?
Thanks
Deepali
there is no difference
but when u perform certain actions which may have effect on the position then it asks for poisiton vaccancy this will happen with the help of the integration switch V_T77s0
that was better response dilek

Hi Sikandar,
Thanks for the reply. As per your answer, it says that certain actions would effect on the position marked as vacant. Would this action be related to the reports that we generate? We are not using Recruitment module but need to show position vacany reports to the clients.
Thanks
Deepali
