Sizing for SAP PI 7.0 / BI 7.0

Dear All,

Earlier we had performed sizing process for industry specific solution like IS-OIL and IS-RETAIL and based on quick sizer output, as per our hardware vendor's recommendations,we went ahead with 1/3 of SAPS requirement for ECC server for PI/XI and BI.

Eg: If output was 999 SAPS for ECC OIL, we went for 333SAPS each for BI and XI prod servers.

Now I am faced with sizing for PI 7.0 alone. Can anybody help me out here with how can I proceed if I am to implement a HA solution only for XI and BI for separate customer's with existing SAP landscape.

Any help is appreciated .

any takers for this question

regards, Sean.

For PI, the Quicksizer tool calculates CPU, memory, and disk space resources which depend on the message throughput, the message size, and your specific business scenarios. The goal of using the tool is rather to get a rough idea about the size of the system required to run the estimated workload than providing exact numbers. Sizing is considered to be an iterative process. Having the Quicksizer results as a starting point, you have to continuously run benchmarks, and monitor your system to guarantee a healthy system.

With Quicksizer Version 12, as of June 2008, the PI sizing questionnaire has been revised in order to improve usability. Furthermore, the calculation has been adapted taking into account new features that were introduced with latest Support Packages of PI 7.0 and with PI 7.1, e.g. packaging, local processing in advanced adapter engine (latter applies for PI 7.1 only), etc.

Hi Sean,

use the Quick Sizer at service.sap.com/quicksizing and enter the number and the size of messages the standalone PI will need to process. The output will be standalone.

Best regards,

Susanne
