Assigning Activity type to WC

Hi ,

Iam having aissue in DIP profile.

I want to determine the material based on Activity type and Work center.

Eg if ACT1 and WC1 means MAT1

if ACT2 and WC2 means MAT2

I have flag the check box for ACTIVITY type and Workcenter for material determination in ODP1 and assigned values in Criteria in the same ODP1 .When I run DP90,system is throughing error message as CHARACTER COMBINATIONS W/O MAT.ASSIGN IN DIP PROFILE XXXXXX.

I think I need to assign the activity type in WC.But my settings in WC are standard value key is SAP0,Capacities OTHER FORMULA SAP008 ,Scheduling OTHER FORMUAL SAP004,In COSTING tab I have given SAP008 in the RHS corner.

How to assign specific Acitivity type to WC.

Well, I finally got the answer and I want to share it with all of you.

The document Introduction_DIP_21.PDF released by SAP on 2011-06-20 provided me with he answer.

Section 3.1.6 "Characteristics filled by standard sources" indicates that for the source "Actual Cost - Line Items"  the characteristic ARBPL (work centre) is not filled. In Fact, It will only work for Easy Cost Planning.

Guys,

Just to let you know that KRISHNAN emailed me the screen-shots of the DIP Profile.

I know its against the rules, but sometimes it cannot be avoided.. Often you can resolve an issue far quicker when to SEE something yourself..

In this case there were incorrect Characteristics and Material Determination settings in the DIP Profile..

Hello, Peter.

Im facing exactly the same issue reported by Krishnan,

I need to determine the material based on Activity type and Work center.

ACT1 and WC1 means MAT1

ACT2 and WC2 means MAT2

My customizing is as follows:

1-Created ZPS00001 DIP Profile with usage 1 (Billing and result analysis)

2. Flagged characteristcs:

• Activity Type (Flagged charact/relevant - Mat. Determination)
• Work center (Flagged charact/relevant - Mat. Determination)

3.Sources were defined 0001 Actual cost - line itme

3.1 Selection criteria: Created sets with values for work center and A.T. Also tried leaving all fields blank on every characteristic.

4. Material determination: Two materials are going to be determined

4,1 criteria:

• For material MAT1, I set ACT1 and WC1
• For material MAT2, I set ACT2 and WC2

Given the fact this customizing did not work, I tried the following:

Cleared WC2 for material MAT2, and.... the system determined the material.

If I double clic on the Dinamic line Item I found that the system is reading:

Network activity:   5000008 0010

Períod                 007.2013

Currency.             COP

Unit                     HRA

activity tye           EPSHO2

Puesto trabajo:     __________ (Blank)

The sources are being entered through confirmations on CN25, where I enter: Activity type, work center, actual work, ect.

Can you please give me an advise on how to make this work properly!

Hi Pete,

enclosed is the erroe message Iam Getting while executing DP90.

Error during material determination for sales document item 4000873/

Message no. AD01155

Diagnosis

An error occured during material determination for a dynamic item.

System Response

The system cannot perform the function.

Procedure

Check in the profile being used whether its characteristic allows the assignment of a material to each dynamic item.

When I to determine the material based on Activity type and Material(Service Order Service Product),after neccesary settings in ODP1,Iam getting the same error.

Where does the sales document number 4000873 come from?

Are you entering this sales order number in the initial DP90 screen??

Yes, this is a standard message when the system cannot determine a material.. What is the FULL text including message number ?

Does the activity type used in the order exist in SetID within the DIP Profile?

From memory you can simulate this process in ODP2.

Work Center value ELEC.

OK, so does it work if you create an order and ONLY confirm ELEC time with an appropriate activity type that is in the SetID?

Hi Pete,

Yes WC included in the Charactersitics list.

I have made Char relevant as

Accounting Indicator,Activity type,billing form,cost center,cost element,material,object no,period,product,transaction currency,unit of measure,Work center

Out of above material determination as Activity type and WC

In the material determination area I have created assigned 4 service materials and in the creteria for service materials I have given respective Activity type value and WC value.

My requirement is need to determine the material in DP90 based on Activity type and WC of the operation in the service order.

Presently Iam determining the material in DP90 based on Activity type and Cost element and in another project by Activity type and Cost center.

Pl suggest me the possible flow.How to send the screen shots.

Hi Peta/Kaushal,

In odp2,Iam getting the status as green.

If I make the material determination with ACT type and Costcenter,during DP90, system is looking for costcenter in the WC and KP26 value of the ACT/Costcenter and determines the material.

In the same way,I need to determine the material based on the Act type and WC.

Even I tried with giving the activity type in the Actvity type Int Proc,Iam getting the same error.

The exact error in DP90 is

Dear krishnan raman,

Also possible adding Alternative activity type. Select Activity type description and trhen press enter, activity type field will be open for editing afterward.

I don't think it's anything to do with the work centre/activity type ..

The problem appears to be with your DIP Profile settings.

Run TCode ODP2 to check the DIP Profile consistency.

In the costing tab page of WC there is field ActType Int.Proc

Fill there activity type.
