Which is preferable. Can any one give some suggestions.

Thanks

Hi Swarna,

In Archiving process there are 2 different aspects 1. Read & 2. Reload.

1. Read Function: It will help in reading the archived data from the archive file

2. Reload Function: It will help in loading the data back into the system from the archive files.

In read function the data is just read from the archive system but data will not be reflected in any tables. In reload function the data will be reflected back in the respective tables.

Slowly reload options are removed from the system. For example: In R/3 system some of the archiving object such as FI_DOCUMNT (Financial accounting document), FI_ACCRECV, FI_ACCPAYB so on had the options of Reload function but now in ECC system these archiving object does not have reload function. Reload option has become obsolete.

Most of the archiving object has read program. In addition to read program, SAP has also given other options to access the archived data such as Archive Information system, DRB, Single document retrieval technique and some of the standard reports are archive enabled.

Hope this has given you fair idea on Read and Reload functions in SAP Archiving.

-Thanks,

Ajay
