Hi Gurus,

I am installing NW 7.0 SR3 64 bit. Pahse 29 'DDIC Password Check' giving following error.

Test logon to SAP System BIW failed.

SOLUTION: Make sure that the system is started, that the user DDIC exists and that the password of user DDIC is correct.

Cheked : Instance was Started.

Try to log on thro GUI shows the DB Error.

Cheked from Scratch - same error.

Help Me.. How to check DDIC is Exist or not at OS level.

your kernel is faulty.

upgrade to latest 7.00 kernel and try again.

Hi Eric,

How can one come to the conclusion that kernel is faulty. If the software is being installed from the SAP provided CD, then how come the kernel is faulty. That means SAP CD is faulty???

Even I faced the same issue while installing ECC 6, and then done the same thing of login with SAP* and unlocking DDIC.

Here the SAP installation seems to be taking the default DDIC password, even though you have changed the default one.

The problem with SAP itself.. not able to take the new password once u change during installation?

I had the DB ERROR twice in my Basis life, and both times, a kernel upgrade did the trick. It does not mean that this will resolve your situation, but it sure resolved mine.

check dev_w0, dev_disp files for more clues.

Eric,

You were right for the kernel issue for DB_Error issue and even I had updated the kernel and it worked.

But the thread was while installation of ECC, the DDIC issue ....

So for that login with SAP* and unlocking DDIC is the only solution I think..

After that installation is again stop at phase 38 'installaing software Units' with following Error-

ERROR 2008-10-07 11:28:38.884

FCO-00011 The step enableUsageTypes with step key |NW_Onehost|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|SAP_Software_Features_Enablement|ind|ind|ind|ind|5|0|enableUsageTypes was executed with status ERROR ( Last error reported by the step :uncaught exception: nw.sdm.deploymentErrorWithLog:

SDM deployment failed for at least one of the components to be deployed. SOLUTION: Check C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/NW04S/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/callSdmViaSapinst.log for more information. (in script unknown, line 0: ???)).

ABAP Processes are running but J2ee processes SDM Server is stoped.

In developer Trace it gives the error

can't find framework package D:\usr\sap\BID\DVEBMGS05\exe\jvmx.jar

What can I do.

Manually copy the file from cd and place in the location D:\usr\sap\BID\DVEBMGS05\exe\ and rerun the installation.

Actually the phase Install Software Unit--> starts SDM to install the components of portal like SDA, SCA.. Somehow the SDM is not able to start.

Can you please look into the java component cd?

Hi Prashant,

I search the file in DVD but search result is 0 file found.

the file is not available on DVD.

Also I have on another CRM server on which AS JAVA installed & running fine. jvmx.jar file is not available on this server also.

I am trying to follow note given by you. if you have any other solution post it to me.

Can you please check if your java instance is running?

Also the problem here is with the SDM not able to run, might be some problem with your java??

Can you please copy the log file contents here( dev_dispatcher, dev_server0, dev_jcontrol, std_server0)

you can find on ,

/usr/sap/SID/DVE*/work folder

It is nothing to do with the jvmx.jar file... the problem lies with your java stack....( not running it seems).

Can you try to open configtool/VA?

Dev_dispatcher is also main log file to check.. apart from this.

Tell me how much of RAM do you have?

In solaris vmstat 3 333 cmd for available space. Can you please check what is left ?

My problem is solved. I start Installation from Scrap & this time I choose only AS ABAP & AS JAVA, droped BI, EP & EP core

Mostly it was RAM Problem.

Congrats!!!

Well the minimum requirement what sap has recommanded does not work... even I faced the same error with 4GB RAM, but then added 4 GM more... I think the Java part does not release the memory while in SDM phase comes....

Thats the problem..

But well u got through a big hurdle...

Can you pls let me know how did you resolve this error "Test logon to SAP system "SID" failed. Solution: Make sure that the system is started, that the user DDIC exists and that the password of user DDIC is correct.

I am stuck with same exact error. Would really appreciate if someone help me resolve this issue.

Hi Darshan,

Seems to be some problem with SAP installation. Because even though while the installation you must have changed the DDIC password, when the phase come asking DDIC password it expect the defualt password 19920706 and not the one which you entered while installing.

Now if the a/c is locked then you need to login to database through sqlplusw....

before that open Sap gui and login with SAP* and unlock the DDIC password.

And continue your installation with default DDIC password..
