Greetings SAP'ers,
Is there any guidelines/best practices in creating new document types whereas you can't use lettering that SAP has for standard document types? For example, SA is for a General Document Posting. If I needed another SA document type, say General Document Posting for Closing and call it SC, is that doable? I was always under the impression SAP wants new document types that clients need to start with Z. In this case, instead of SC, I would create ZC.
Any guidance would be helpful. I'm using my old memory of SAP best practices, but maybe it no longer is a best practice.
Thanks,
Jim
Yes, it is doable. There is no reserved namespace for document types - they need not necessarily start with Z. This is all SAP says about document types.
1. Find out whether you can use the standard settings.
2. Change or extend the default settings, if necessary.
