Failed to register with the name server.

Some of our services for Crystal Server can no longer start. All services besides the CMS and RAS can start. Looking in the event viewer, the following error is displayed:

Failed to register with the name server. Reason: The server name being registered is invalid. There might be another server registered using the same name. Choose another name or delete the corresponding server entry in the CMC.

I believe that it is due to DNS issues as the server had issues resolving one of our domain accounts. However, this is now fixed so not sure what the problem is. It seems as though the problem started the same time the DNS issue was resolved. It seems as though the fully qualified domain name is perhaps causing the issue with the services. Anyone know how to resolve this?

eventually, in the CMC, or from the Windows CCM, you can try to delete and then recreate your servers.

Yes, the cluster is very sensitive to DNS, on server machines inside the cluster I would recommend to have the /etc/hosts set up so that name resolution can work without DNS.
