MaxDB Restore/backup question

I am busy with describing possible recovery scenario's of MaxDB. I have a question about the possibility to do a log backup in Admin mode. In a normal situation auto log is active.

When the MaxDB database has an error (lets say an I/O error) the first thing to do is a recovery of the filesystem where the database was standing. After that a MaxDB recovery with initialization is neccesary to get the data back. But the initialization will overwrite the last log records in the log (and mirror log). So before that I want to make a log backup to our archive log.

Is this possible?

So will MaxDB start in admin mode even if the database is not there?

If admin mode is possible, is it possible to do a log backup to our archive log?

Thanks in advance.
