BI Widget can't connect to universe

I created a webi report and then open it in BI Widget. I drag it to the desktop and everything seems fine.

Problem is that, when I try to refresh the data it throws an error and says it can't connect to universe.

If I refresh the original webi report the data is fetched just fine, the problem only occurs with the widget. Any ideas on what is causing this?

The universe wasn't published in BOE. I was using a local universe so the Widget couldn't refresh.
