REORDER POINT PLANNING.

Hello SAP Experts,

Kindly let me know the DIFFERENCES between Manual Reorder Point Planning and Automatic Reorder Point Planning.

Also, for the Automatic Reorder Point Planning, how both the REORDER LEVEL and the SAFETY STOCK LEVEL are determined automatically by the system??

Hi,

In manual reorder point planning as mentioned in the name, it is manually entered both reorder level and safety stock.

It will not change automatically.

In automatic reorder point planning, system will calculate reorder level and safety stock automatically by using forecasting values entered in material master.

For every forecasting execution time, these both value will vary depends on past consumption value.

Now, please tell me what are all the forecasting values to be entered and in which views of the material master?

Is there any SPRO setting for this?

Dear,

You need to define it in forecasting view. Enter the values in unplanned consumption in forcast view - Consumption values push button.

Thenselect the required forcast model and plan.

Or useFunction module MB_UPDATE_MATERIAL_CONSUMPTION

Hi,

To work with forecast, in material master activate forecasting view by tcode MM01.

In additional data, consumption data tab is available. You can enter past consumption value from current month to moving backwards.

Depends on forecasting model selection, required past consumption data will vary. Required forecasting data, period indicator have to mention in the material master.

You have the option of manual selection of forecasting model and system automatically propose the model.

System has many parameters like alpha, beta, gamma, delta & parameter optimization to control the forecasting error. System will do simulation run to find the minimum forecast error by using all these parameters depends on forecasting model.

In SPRO setting you need to create forecasting profile.

Dear,

In Manual rol planning , reorder point is set manually in material master and MRP type VB for manual reorder point.

In automatic, system calculates based on integrated forecast program and MRP type = VM

P.R will not create automatically for both manual reorder planning & auto reorder planning.

When the stock level goes below reorder point, system will generate planning file entry.

So when next MRP run by MD01, P.R will create for all the materials which are having planning file entry.

Hi,

In MRP lot size data, we will be giving the MRP type.

If it is Reorder point planning(VB),

You need to mention the re-order point and safety stock.

In automatic re-order point planning, system will take replenishment lead time into consideration and triggers the planning order/ Purchase requisition.
