Lead time scheduling and Finite scheduling ...

Hi ther e,

As per my understanding Lead time scheduling assumes unlimited available capacity to determine the contrast to that the finite scheduling take into account the current load at the work center .....

When we run the MRP we can have lead time scheduling & then perform the capacity leveling for finite scheduling take the load situation into consideration ....

Can we execute the MRP with finite scheduling directly ....

APO and I2 are Finite Planning tools. When MRP runs with APO or I2 it takes Capacity issues into consideration. MRP in SAP R/3 Core does not, it assumes infinite capacity available. (MRP only looks at material availablity.)

However, SAP R/3 DOES do finite SCHEDULING, which is where the system 'dispatches" operations on a production order until it fills up the capacity available, then moves to the next time period and dispatches until that period is filled up. In SAP speak, that is called capacity leveling.

APO should only be used for requirement is the solution on it.
