PO is taking base unit of measure instead of Order unit

Former Member

Hello,

When I am creating a PO, its taking the Base unit of measure instead of the Order unit from the material master.

In the material master I have maintained the base unit as "EA" , order unit as "CS" and I have also set the Variable order unit as "1".

In the Purchase Info record , I have maintained the order unit as "CS" and Variable order unit as blank.

When I am creating the PO, it is automatically taking order unit as "EA" (base unit).

But I want it should automatically take "CS".

Please could you tell me why is it so.

Thanks.

Hi,

Also check for "Remove reference of info record in purchase order line item"

Then check press F4 on field on order unit and take any unit of base unit or order unit.

Dear,

Also update order unit in material purchasing info record in ME12.

First change order unit in ME12 and check purchase order.

Other wise remove reference of info record in purchase order line item.

Do you reference a contract?

if contract reference, what order unit does the contract have?

what about your source list, do you use source list?

If source list, what is the order unit there?

When you save the PO as is, do you then see the info record number in the item overview ?

Hello Jurgen,

No I do not reference any contract.

Do not use any source list.

The infor record is number is also not there in the PO.

If you do not have an info record number in the PO item, then your info record was not found during PO creation, so SAP cannot know that it has to take the order unit specified in this info record.

Do you have a requisition? do you use ME57?

How do you create the PO?

Hello Jurgen,

But if it is not taking details from info record, then it should take the order unit specified in the material master. But it is still taking the base unit.

No I do not use a requisition. I directly create a PO.

Hi,

Create a requistion first.... in the Base Unit of measure, when converting to a PO this will automatically convert the base UOM to order UOM. Please try this..it will work.

Kind Regards

Hi Adeel,

I do not want to use a requisition to create a PO.

I create a PO directly (because it is never mandatory to create a PO wrt to requisition).

If the order unit is maintained in the material master, it should populate in the PO.

But it is not doing in this case.

Hence I would like to know the reason.

You allowed variable order unit in the material master.

If you dont want it, then remove this variable indicator, and SAP should take the order unit that is specified.

Hello Jurgen,

Yes I also thought that could be the reason. But I also have removed it & tried to create but still it is taking the base unit of measure.

it works for me right away.

I entered the vendor, purchasing org, buyer, company code and material number, then I hit enter.

I can already see the order unit and I see the info record number.

Just try it like I did and tell me what you get
