Could everyone let me know what are the key challenges faced during ESS/MSS Config and Customization.

I am interested because iam preparing documentation regarding this.i need inputs from everyone.

Hi,

Configurations:

-Install and configure JDI/NWDI

-Configure CBS

-Cofigure UWL

-Setup Priviledges, Roles and Groups

-Deployment of the componets required in SDM

-SLD configurations

-Maintaining JCO destinations

-SSO configurations-Exchange certificates

-SAP system creation in Portal for WAS and ITS

Customization

-Developer's Studio and development environment setup

-Understanding of the SAP Delivery concept and policy for Web Dynpro modifications

-Updating the dependepcies and deployment

-Extending RFC functionality

-Using Floor plan manager-(MSS)

-Configure the view/view group in the Object and Data Provider (OADP) customizing

Just a hint if u have missed something.

Lina,

The biggest challenge for ESS/MSS is applying support packs after SAP source code has been modified.

It requires merging code modifications between SAP source code and customized source code of different levels of SP.

Note 872892 has guides on how to do it and it is a complicated process that tends to take more time than was anticipated.
