Any field for extra grouping/categorizing of personnel for reporting only

I try re-posting this

Our client wants to group some people into groups that they need for reporting. They use this in their local salary discussions. It sounds like some sort of categories (like generalists, specialists, "rookies" etc.)

We are not using PD or Qualifications as of yet.

They are wondering if there is a field in any infotype suitbale for the purpose. It must alsow be retrievable through our PNPCE Infoset.

I am hesitant to advise them to "misuse" eg. IT22 for this as my experience is often that this hits you in the face at some point down the road.

Any hints are greatly appreciated

Kirsten

Hi Kibo,

Do you use OM?

If you do, you may do this grouping in the job firld. Then you can assign the job to the positions.

Another option is to use employee groups/subgroups, if you are not using that field for some specific purpose. Lastly, you may check the fields residing in IT0001, such as administrator, etc. that might be used for that specific purpose.

Thanks. Yes, we thought about grouping in OM - but they claim their need is directly tied to persons.

The PERSG/PERSK is used for "real" categorization, so that's not an option. I will look into the other fields you mention. I am always sceptical about using a field that's meant for other purposes, so I was looking for fields of a more "free" nature.
