Hi
I have setup the solution monitoring in SOLMAN and when I try to activate any alert, it shows a red icon which means "not accessible'. Does this mean that I have to setup the alert in CCMS of the satellite system which I want to monitor
OR
Do I need to register CCMS agent on the satellite system to get the alerts in SOLMAN?

Hi Bill,
In order to fully use CCMS monitoring of different systems in SOLMAN using RZ21, you'll need to install CCM4X on your satellite systems
Prerequisites:
1. The csmconf file is available in /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSnn/log/sapccm4x
2. There's an up to date version of SAPCCM4X in /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSnn/exe
Procedure:
In command window:
- cd /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGSnn/exe
- SAPCCM4X -r pf=<drive>\usr\sap\<sid>\sys\profile\<sid>_DVEBMGS<nn>_<server>
--> all default settings should be ok, as the csmconf file comes from SOL. Only CSMREG & CSMADM password need to be entered.
Afterwards, check if there's a service sapccm4x.<sys. no.> running
Other functionalities (start/stop/deregister/...) of the CCMS Agent, can be found in SAP Help:

Hello Bill,
yes, thats right in my opinion. I remember installing/configuring
the CCMS agents on non R/3 system servers, so they
could be monitored on an R/3 monitoring system in RZ20.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Andreas

Well I guess I dont need to install or configure any CCMS agents. Its working without any configuration, I guess it just needs the RFC connection working

I see the user alerts can be turned active but its just the predefined alerts that are having problem and I am kind of confused because I didnt configured any agent on the satellite system, how come user alerts are working then? Could anyone explain this to me.
The system I am monitoring is the R/3 system from SOLMAN.

Hello,
is the system to be monitored an R/3 or Netweaver
system ? If it is a non sap product, you would not
to install the ccms agents and run the registration
process, so it can connect.
Is the system configured in transaction SMSY ?
Thanks and regards,
Andreas

Hi,
Yes you will have to install the CCMSR or CCM4X agents on the satellite systems to monitor them.
