Re:MDM Remote systems

Hi folks

I wanna know abt the use of Remote system in Sap MDM.

As i got to know that XI just pics the data from a specified folder in MDM as a file.........and as from MDM we are not transfering the data directly into the Remote system........Why do we need to mention the Remote system......And in XI the receiver system is mentioned which is nothing but the remote system that we mention in MDM.

can some one give me brief desc on remote systems in SAP MDM

Hi Shaifali,

As per your requirment of understanding the process of Remote system and XI

Since this process is applicable in heterogeneous environments, the process flow may vary depending on which remote system is connected. The following process flow is an example, based on a connected SAP R/3 system.

This IT process runs as follows:

1. Trigger extraction (remote system)

The master data expert or administrator in charge triggers extractions of master data through push mechanism directly on the relevant remote system. This step applies to initial and delta load.

For SAP R/3 systems, master data is extracted using mass-enabled iDoc-types. The selection mechanism allows you to build groups of objects which can be extracted and sent separately (one iDoc created per group).

2. System sends extracted objects to PI (remote system)

For SAP R/3 systems, the data transfer is enabled

through XI iDoc sender channel.

3. System transforms message to XML format (PI)

For SAP R/3 systems, the iDoc structure is transformed into

an equivalent XML message.

4. System routes messages to inbound port (PI)

PI sends the message to the inbound port of the Import

5. System imports data from inbound port (MDM)

Once the data has been delivered to a specific inbound

port, it will automatically be picked within a configurable

time interval and queued up for import processing.

6. System transforms, maps, and matches data based on

remote key (MDM)

The MDM Import Manager provides predefined and centralized object structures with object/client-specific mapping (for R/3 objects). It also provides advanced configuration data for delivered objects, including value mapping. The MDM Import Server maps and matches imported data to the repository structure.

You can use this process to export the consolidated master data from MDM to Process Integration (PI) using the MDM Syndication Server, and then distribute the data to the specified remote systems.

Hope it helps.
