Hi,experts,

In my project, there are around 8 depts. involved in pm module and each dept has been addressed by creating planner group and allocated one separate user id in production client. Now, my client's requirement is that one dept. should not be able to view or change master data of other dept. or transaction data like IW28 or IW38 etc. to restrict user of one dept to change data of other dept. How, can we do this by using the planner group field?? please, explain in details ASAP as the matter is urgent.thanks in advance.

hi

if you are taking about the Mater data like equipment and Fl then you an use the authorization group for the same

you can find in the SAP help

Define Authorization Groups

Use

In this Customizing activity, you define authorization groups for your technical objects. Authorization groups are used to categorize similar objects from the point of view of authorizations.

Activities

Create the authorization groups for your technical objects.

Example

You have two maintenance departments, truck fleet and production. There is a series of equipment in the system for both departments. You want to ensure that a user 'A' may only process equipment of the truck fleet, and a user 'B' may only process equipment from the production area.

To do this, define two authorization groups and assign these to the two users 'A' and 'B' in their user master record.

The equipment must also be assigned to the two authorization groups.

The two users can then only process objects from their own user department.

Notes

If no authorization group is entered in an object, the check is not carried out. If this is the case, the user may process the object.

Also you can use of ROLES assignment for controlling the same .kindly consult with you basis person also

HI

for masters like equipment and FL you can go with authorization groups,

and for task lists and plans - we use planner groups

so here you need to create the roles,

when you create rolls against the t-code like IA06 or IP02

in authorization you get the planner groups,

and same for iw28 and iw38 also

pl try to create roles

Hi,

You can go ahead and create Define Two Authorization Group [in general case PM and QM groups]. Once groups are created you can define users based on their activities into this group.

Now in the Master data information Define the Authorization Group and assign either PM or QM [in this case].

Once assigned , your objective is taken care.
