What is System and System Component?

I have question about what is System and System Component in SMSY ?

Hi ,

System is the sap solution installed in your landsscape

Ex. SCM, CRM,R/3 .,R/3 enterprise

A system component can belong to different systems. In the SAP Solution Manager, you capture the data for a system component once, independently of a system. Then assign the system component to the systems which use it. There are the following types of system components. SAP can specify more.

ITS

Java System

TREX

Hello Halomoan,

You create systems to be able to use them in Solution Manager projects.

The system determines the displayed data automatically for ABAP-based SAP products.

As far as system components concern, it includes like Java and ABAP.

For non-ABAP-based SAP products, and non-SAP-products, you can create systems yourself, to use them in your solution landscape in operational processing..

Hi,

System can be any system like SAP R/3 ECC etc. with all the client details.

System components are basically Java Trex etc used for monitoring.

For using scenario in Solution Manager like service desk,CHARMS,etc. u need to define systems in smsy

You create and manage the system landscape centrally in the Solution Manager, to use it in your implementation and template projects, to monitor change requests (Change Management), in the Customizing Synchronization (Customizing Scout, Customizing Distribution) and in operational processing (Solution Monitoring, Services, Support Desk).
