Hello Experts,
we have an established webshop with CHF as currency and 7.6% vat for switzerland. Now we would like to expand the shop for germany and mybe in future for other countries.
What is the easiest and fastest way to establish a new webshop with different currency and different VAT.
It's easier to manage different currency and VAT in the same shop or it's easier to establish a new shop with a separate price/product catalog and reference customer?
Thank you very much in advance
Kindest regards
Jannis
Hello Jannis,
In order to maintain different currencies and other attributes based on different geographies, you should maintain different Product catalog variants with a parent catalog.
Like you have a parent catalog log as CAT_MAIN and catalog variants as
CAT_SW for Swiss,
CAT_DE for Germany,
CAT_GB for Britain and so on.
The individual catalog variant would represent attributes (currency, sales area, products specific to the geography).
I hope this is a helpful answer.

Kapil

Dear Kapil,
thank you very much. We define now one additonal catalog variant in the CRM system. Our question is: how we get this additional catalog variant in the online shop?
Do we need to add any special settings in shopadmin/shopadmin/xcm/init.do? We can't add more than one catalog variant in the existing configuration.
Thank you.
Kindest regards,
Jannis
Dear Jannis,
In Shop Management "/shopadmin/shopadmin/init.do", you should create a shop for each of your product catalog variant.
Once this configuration is done, you would get an option to select a shop(from list of shops which you have configured) once you have logged into the system.
Hope this answer is helpful.

Kapil
Hello Jannis,
Kapil is correct in every respect. One small detail. To make the selection of Web Shop for different countries inconspicuos or transparent to the end user, the web sites normally provide a feature to select the geographical region graphically - for example by way of clicking a map. Some web sites also do it requesting the user to pick a Locale (Country + Language combination - for example CA-FR or FR-FR) which in turn will give us an idea of the country and the language. Once we know this, the right Shop-ID is know and usually, this is added as a URL parameter.
