Hello,

a friend of mine have a problem exporting Business Objects 5.1.8 to excel 2003 (turning on windows 2000).

Each time she want to export her reporting in excel format (.XLS), she obtain a "Numeric field Overflow (3349)" error.

So, she export in .CSV format, but it's not easy to use for her following tasks.

What could she do ?

Does she do an "update" to newer version of B.O., or there are a solution at this problem ??

Thanks in advance.

Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

Just in addition to this thread, the issue which you are facing is Microsoft specific issue and not related to Business Objects.

I hope the below explanation will help you in understanding the root cause:

The error message you are receiving is a Microsoft DAO/Jet error. BusinessObjects relies upon the DAO (Data Access Objects) when exporting to other applications. This error is not a Business Objects error but a Microsoft error. It seems this is a DAO problem. Moreover, this can be reproduced with Office applications e.g. when converting an Access table in an Excel sheet with similar date like 30/12/9999. In Access, you might receive the error "Date out of range.

Please feel free to revert in case of further queries

Hi Nicolas,

According to the supported platform guide MS office 2003 is not supported with BO 5.1.8.

Could you please use the supported version and test the issue.

Hi Nicolas,

According to the information provided by you could you please review the following solution.

A Numeric field overflow occurs when the value of date-type data exceeds "2079/1/1"+DMA005 error message

- When you try to export to excel a report containing date > 31/12/2078 you'll recieve 2 error messages :

Numeric field overflow 3349

DMA005

To reslove the issue:

1- export the report to .txt format first,

2- then open the .txt file in an excel sheet.
