Dear experts,

please detail why we are using different scheduleline types(same functionality) for for different MRP types.

Eg:TAN+ND -->CN

TAN+P1 -->Cp

In the above eg sc.lines CN and Cp have same functionalities.can't we maintain same sched.lines for different MRP Type.

Thanks & Regards,

Balu.

Hi there,

Check the settings in CP & CN in VOV6. In CN, Req / Assembly are not checked but in CP they are checked. It means that for CP TOR will happen & availability check is carried out.

If you check in VOV5, schedule line catg determiantion, only those item catgs that donot require planning MRP Type ND are assigned CN. Rest of then which require plannning are assigned CP.

So when you enter a SO, system will propose the item catg, then schedulien line catg & then do the availability check depending on the settings you define.

Dear Balu

No requirements are transferred and no availability check is carried out for the schedule line CN.

Requirements are transferred and the availability of the material is checked for the schedule lines CP.

thanks

Schedule lines are created to define as to how the MRP requirements and the availability check is to be carried out.

Also, other controls like movement type, delivery blocks, etc can also be controlled.

Depending on the requirements from the business, these are to be defined and assigned accordingly.

To the query,

why we are using different scheduleline types(same functionality) for different MRP types.

Eg:TAN+ND -->CN
TAN+P1 -->Cp

In the above eg sc.lines CN and Cp do not have the same functionalities, as in CN there is no requirement and availability check done whereas in CP the same is taken into consideration.

Hope this answer your query.

Hi balu,

SAP has provided a point of differentiation for doing ATP and scheduling lines. Based on MRP type, you can switch from ATP to Product allocation or to a customized process.

In your case they might be functioning similarly, but in projects I have seen, they could be made to behave differently.

Hope this answers you.
