Please let me know how to create new batch with batch charaterstics during transfer posting (MT-311)

you need to config the following and than if it is only for 311 movement than activate batch management for that movement only and for that plant.

make sure the mateirl is activated for batch management

Normally in SAP system the identification of a material can be made till the S.loc level. When we need to differentiate a material still further, for example when we need to differentiate each batch of a production lot, we assign each of these lots to a batch number to keep track them individually and this process is called batch management.

For example, Delphi manufactures high precision FIPu2019s for various automotive OEu2019s and they handle their outgoing products (FERT) in Batches since any quality problem occurring at the customer end can be tracked down easily.

A Batch Managed component behaves exactly same as a regular component except we mention the Batch Nos. for every GR and follow the same batch no. for subsequent GI, Transfer posting, Stock Transfer or Rejection to the vendor.

We mention that a Material needs to be managed in Batches by ticking the u201CBatch Managementu201D check box in Purchasing view of Material Master.

From then on during every GR, the system would prompt to enter a Batch No.

The number to be entered can either be internal or external depending on customization.

External number assignment to batch:

Batch Master:

Whenever a Material that is handled in Batches is in-warded with a Batch no. assigned a Batch Master gets created.

Level of Batch Management:

We specify in the system at what level the above batch is unique. A batch can be unique at the following levels.

u2022 Client

u2022 Plant

u2022 Material

Batch Determination:

While making a GI, instead of searching for suitable Batch manually, we can form a search strategy and according to the entered criteria the system will suggest suitable batches in suitable order. This is effected by deploying CONDITION technique.
