Extending of fixed assets life from 5 yrs to 10 yrs.

Hi,

SAP expert, could you please tell me our client have a assets which have 5yrs whcih was purchased on 01.04.2004. Now client wants to extend the use life from 5yrs to 10 yrs. Is it possible? If so, how and where to configure.

What will be impact of previous year , current year and subsequent year?

Hi VK,

go to the asset master record maintenance (AS02), click through to the depreciation area tab and change the useful life. That´s it.

If the fields are not maintaineable, check the screen layout rules.

The system will adjust the depreciation according to your depreciation parameter settings, prior (closed) fiscal year values will not be changed.

Markus told you that prior fiscal years will not be impacted by your change.

I suggest that you try this yourself in a "sandbox" system so that you understand the impacts and can explain the results to your customer.
