Dear Subrat

As long as the respective number range accommodates for whole of the subsequent year, there is absolutely no problem in continuing but from excise point of view, you need to maintain a new number range for all outgoing documents.

thanks

Hi,

There is no need for changing the number ranges for Sales Order/Delivery Order and Billing documents but if the client closing year sep 30 then in that case we have to only change the excise invoice number ranges which are year specific.

This will not have any impact. But in case of Excise Number ranges as the client has to submit them in the excise department and in the excise object we will be maintaining year specific so it is mandatory that these number ranges have to given and if in the object if you are not maintianing year specific for excise number ranges object then there is no need for us to create new number ranges even for excise number ranges. (Note: Excise number ranges have to defined as per client requirement)

Dear Subrat

Once we assign the number range during the initial period, habitually we don't see or monitor the number ranges and as you said, if any of the number ranges exhausted, then system will restart from the first number you have assigned for that period.

For example, if you assign number range as 1230001 and ends with 1240000 and during the middle of the year, the number range crosses 124000, for the next document, again it will consider 1230001. The most important thing is that such newly created datas will be updated with again 1230001 in the respective tables.

At that stage, that is in the middle of the year, the only option is to assign a new number range which is available. Unless you are not confident about that it will not get exhausted, better assign a new number range.

You can consider the thumb rule as previous years' number of documents generated and based on this, you can take a decision.

Hope this inputs help you to take a decision. !!!!!

thanks
