The reserve field in the link table is where ArchiveLink stores the document class of the document that has been stored (ex. TIF, DOC, XLS).
If you go to transaction OAG1, you will notice an option with the description "Always copy document class from the document type". If this option is turned on then the value in the reserve field will always be the document class associated to the document type. If this option is off then the reserve field will be filled with the derived document class from the file name.
For example in an implimentation that I worked on, we use document class " * " for all of our document types so that any class of document can be stored for each document type (i.e. the same document type can be used for various classes such as DOC, XLS, etc.
When you retrieve a document via archivelink it checks the reserve filed and uses this in order to decide what viewer/application to use to open the document.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the reply. This reply is really very useful. As per your suggestion i have checked Setting in "OAG1", but i did not found that option. I think that option is not available in 4.6C. That option is available in ECC5. or ECC6.0.
But why system storing MIME type "image/tiff" for document class FAX. Even for maximum Document type system storing FAX, but for few document it is storing "image/tiff".
Thanks in Advance.
