Dear All,
I have a requirement to install the Arabic language. I am trying in IDES first(ECC 6) and the steps which I follow ,
1. Copy the file ARNW04S2.PAT from the DVD ( 2004 SR2 ) and put it in /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in folder.
2 . Went to SMLT and Classify Language, select Arabic and supplementary as English.
3. So now I could see Arabic in the main screen of SMLT. and then select Arabic --> Import Package
Language Arabic
Path /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in
SAPKLAR700SR2NW04SF0 Language NetWeaver 2004s SR2 AR 24.08.2006
and setting it was the Current Client ( 000).
4. The import of packages was successful now and I could see in the SMLT the Arabic languages> imported Packages> SAPKLAR700SR2NW04SF0 and green status.
5. Now when I do Language> Special Action> Import Support Packages and then see Support Packages found in system and some list of Status description like
Must be imported ( highlighted)
Translation already exists for this Support Package
Now if I enter it another screen comes with Step: Search for Existing Files at the Operating System Level
and waiting for Path for CAR Archives and description like
Not Found
...
..
I am stuck at this step and when I press Enter
Reduce the list to all found packages, or specify the paths
to the CAR/SAPCAR archives.
even if I give the path /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in .. the same thing happens.
Is there any other steps to do????
Also in instance profile the zcsa/inst... is AR.
The step
Choose Language u2192 Special Actions u2192 Import Support Packages.
is remaining from my side as I could not go ahead. Lots of message as already discribed.
Any solution to it???
Now I am trying to download the SP from servicemarket place. Can anybody suggest me which to download as per the error message in SMLT> Spl Action> Import SP
Translation already exists for this Support ( so shld I download the SP for it?
and
Must be imported( so I need to download the SP for it). It has all very big list of all the SAP components. Should I need to download for everything??

You need to have all support packages available, that's your problem.

Is that support package already installed? Check with system --> status (or use transaction SPAM).
zcsa/installed_languages uses a SINGLE key for the language, if you execute RSCPINST it will tell you what you need to put as value for that parameter.
Markus
Hi Markus,
After executing RSCPINST and then Simulation.. got the following output ( for the selection of Arabic, english and German language)
T a s k s :
Required OS locales and their current status:
Off Locale check not required for Unicode
Required profile parameter modifications:
RSCPINST does NOT change the value of profile parameter.
Please check the value of below parameter(s) after activation.
1) Please update zcsa/installed_languages.
e.g. Copy the new value and paste it into a field in transaction RZ10
New: 123ACDEFHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVZ
Current (sorted):
sapdev_IDX_20 DE
2) Please proceed with Check result for below parameter(s):
OK Checked and Eno inconsistency found.
Also I have checked SPAM and all the SP are present for eg.
ECC-DIMP till SP06
EA-PS till SP06
This is the IDES I have installed.
> e.g. Copy the new value and paste it into a field in transaction RZ10
> New: 123ACDEFHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVZ
> Current (sorted):
> sapdev_IDX_20 DE
So you have installed ALL languages?
Did you restart the instance after the parameter change?
> Also I have checked SPAM and all the SP are present for eg.
>
> ECC-DIMP till SP06
> EA-PS till SP06
So you need all the support packages 1 - 6 of those components.
Markus
By default All the major languages got installed. I just imported Arabic language.
so u mean that my new value be = 123ACDEFHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVZ
If I need all the support packages till SP06, then SAP is crazy??? I have already installed those packages then why it require again? you know how much time consuming and I dont think a point doing silly things of downloading all the components of ECC SP till 06?
There must be some alternative.. come on this is not the way SAP should behave??????
> By default All the major languages got installed. I just imported Arabic language.

yes.

If you downloaded those already - why are they not there?
It's not crazy - it's logical:
If you install a system with let's say DVD set of SR2 (which is SP 9) then the language DVDs are on that level too (SP 9). If you now add SPs and you patch the system up to (e. g.) SP12 and then add the language, they are still on SP 9. So to get the translations from the support packages you need all the packages from SP10 to SP12 to match the current support package level.
This is the reason why I keep all my EPS/in until we do an upgrade, in case we need to add a language.
Of course, you can omit that step (installing the language dependent part of the support packages) and go on with language substitution but you may not get all translations that came later.
Markus
After giving the parameter
zcsa/installed_languages= AR
Sap starts without any error, but when logging in to SAP, it shows the error message" Please choose the installed Languages"
Do I need to give something else in the parameter other then AR???
Now I changed the parameter to DE and trying to login to client 000 and AR ( as language) it shows me Error
" Select one of the installed languages"

Hello,
You need to provide car files for all the support packages applied in your system since very start.
Old support packages CAR files may have been deleted from EPS/in.
So, extract all support packages in EPS/in and then retry.
Hope this helps.
