confused in determination of storage location

Dear experts!

Thank you for your attention!

I am confused in determination of storage location.

We know that standard material has a "plant data/ stor. 1" data in their master record.

But when we creat a sales order, why doesn't the system determine the stor. location from the master record but leave the stor. location field blank?????

And we know, the the stor. location can be determined by shipping pointplantshipping condition. Is this necessary, as the material should has a "plant data/ stor. 1" data for determine stor. location?????

Hi

Storage location is normally not determined in sales order

It is determined only in delivery

If you want storage location to be determined for sales order then you have to use userexit

If storage location is specified manually in sales order then it is copied into delivery

Otherwise it is determined using either MALA,RETA or MARE rules which we specify in delivery doc type

THIS IS STANDARD SAP

The assignment of 'Shipping point-Plant-Storage conditons' is for the automatic determination of storage location in Delivery document and not in sales order. Since the goods are to be picked it is mandatory to specify a storage location in delivery. The drawback with this assignment is, we cannot assign different storage locations for the same combination of ShPoint-Plant-Storage conditons.

Determination of storage location in the sales order is not a standard SAP functionality. You have to take the help of a Userexit to achieve this functionality.

Hi there,

In the sames order, storage location will not be determined by standard SAP unless there is a an user exit written for your company.

It is usually determineds in the delivery. Coz it is to the delivery type that we assign a storage location rule like MALA, RETA MARE etc.

Go to VA03, press F8 to go to material master. Check what storage loc is maintained in plant / data storage.

Check what rule is assigned for your delivery type. Then check in OVL3 when storage location is proposed automatically.

Apart from that, standard SAP willnot determine storage loc in sales order. You can do that through user exit in MV45AFZZ.
