Change Number

Number used to uniquely identify a change master record.

Engineering Change Management (LO-ECH)

Data record that contains all the information required

for managing a change.

A change master record contains descriptive data, such

as the reason for the change, and data with control

functions, such as valid-from date and indicators for

object types. In addition to this data, which you can

maintain directly, there is data that the system updates

automatically, such as administrative data.

Use

If you make a change with reference to a change number, or create an

object with a change number, the following functions are at your

disposal:

o The system determines the validity conditions

The conditions that the change is effective under can be defined in the

change master record as follows:

- Changes with a date validity (valid-from date)

- Changes with parameter effectivity (for example: serial no.

effectivity)

o Log of the changes made

o Documentation of the changes

o Assignment of a revision level to a change state of a material or

document

o Release of changes for the different areas in the company

Change number is used to uniquely identify a changes for master record.

Whenever, you want to change any master data of Material Master, you can document the reasons, requestor or any other information you feel necessary in the change master record which identified by a unique record.

In simple words, any specific changes you need to do material master those changes will be recorded with a change number for future references.
