SAP BW integration with WebI

Hello Experts,

I am working on SAP BI and new to BO world. I have gone thru all the 6 parts blogs by Ingo Hilgefort and those are excellent. I am still learning WebI. I dont have access to SAP system from my BO coz it is not configured and will build the report first time on cube. Till now I was practicing on efashion universe on MS access in test environment. I have some doubts here.

In Bex query, we populate the variables by customer exit/replacement path/user entry. How can we use those variables in WebI? Can we directly restrict the data in WebI query with the help of those variable? actually how does it works? I couldnt find any threads which discuss about this point.I am also looking for some ebooks which describes how to define query on SAP Cubes.
