I need to know function for updating PO at field "your reference"

I have the question, on my site need to call function to update PO header at filed call "your reference"

Can I have the function to update this field?

now my scenario is:

i sent the PO data using IDOC to other system for convertion to sales order.

the result is sales order number

there is a requirement to update this result to PO in host system in field "your reference"

so i need the function which can update this field in PO header

can you suggest the easy function which can update this field?
