Kindly explain to me what is new g/l or special g/l in sap. what is the advantage of new g/l or special g/l. what are the setting we have to do for new g/l or special g/l. kindly explain to me detailed,

New GL or Special ledger functionality enables you to have a parallel ledger besides your regular general ledger - basically another set of books (in accounting parlance). In special ledger (4.7 and below) era, you could post ledger-specific entries using transaction GB01. Similarly, in new GL (5 and above), you can do so using transactions FB01L, FB50L etc. On special ledger (or additional ledger in new GL), you can specify stored currencies and a fiscal year variant different from your company code currency. You can also specify activities (business transactions) that need to be rolled up to special ledger and assign field movements to those activities.

New GL (more or less) uses same technique as special ledger, In new GL, many tables are preconfigured; whereas in special ledger, one had to define table groups (line item table, totals table and index table).
