Error in copy function

Dear all,

I am using a planning function in IP to copy the data from one infoprovider to another infoprovider, meanwhile changing the planning version.

When I execute the planning function I get this error:

"Characteristic combination cannot be assigned to a part provider"

Characteristic: '0UNIT' ; Characteristic value: 'PC'

"Characteristic combination cannot be assigned to a part provider"

Characteristic: '0UNIT' ; Characteristic value: 'L'

And so on for each record.

Does anyone know why I get this error?

Thanks,

Marc

PS: It works only if I stay in the same infoprovider. The problem occurs when copying to another cube.

Hi Marc,

I am also getting the same error when copying from one cube to another.

Characteristic combination cannot be assigned to a part provider

Characteristic: '0CREDITOR' ; Characteristic value: '136308'

Can you please let me know how you solved it.

Thanks.

Naveen.

In my multiprovider, there was 1 object not assigned to the target provider. So in your case, check the assignment of 0CREDITOR.

Kind regards,

Marc

Thanks Marc.

Yes I have checked in the multiprovider. 0CREDITOR is not assigned for the target provider.

But I am using the same thing in BPS0, it does not give me any error.

Can you pls let me know why in IP??

Thanks.

Regards,

Naveen.

I don't know why IP behaves differently from BPS. But the main thing is, it works.

That is because in IP, the underlying object being a multiprovider, it is by definition (of multiprovider) required to specify the assignment of each characteristic and KF to underlying infoproviders.

In contrast, in BPS you create multiplanning areas, where all the characteristics are assigned automatically to all possible underlying simple planning areas in which they exist.
