Why do we use MRP groups & how it is related with MRP or Planning.

Dear,

MRP group is responsible for seperate planning for the material. We create MRP group in OPPR with planning strategy, consumption mode, Planning horizon.

We assign the MRP group to Material master in MRP1 View

MRP groups are used when the plant division for planning is not enough for the division of the different materials MRP requirements. You assign different groups according to the requirements to run MRP (different Settings). These settings will be taken in account when you run MRP for single item or total planning.

On your MRP group, you will define the parameters for the MRP run. These parameters are calculated in accordance with the settings on your material master MRP views.

Hi Niranjan,

MRP group is used for planning of material, where different dept is not able to run mrp individually. so group is created and assigned that grop for all material whic undergoes for mrp.

Maintain MRP group in Material master MRP1 View.

The MRP group contains all the materials from the point of view of MRP for assigning special control parameters for the total planning run. These control parameters include, for example, the strategy group, the consumption mode, and the planning horizon.

The MRP group is an organizational object that can be used to allocate special control parameters for planning to a group of materials. You can maintain MRP groups if planning control per plant is not precise enough for your requirements and you want to allocate certain material groups different control parameters from the plant parameters. For this purpose, MRP groups are defined with these specific control parameters and are assigned to the material in the material master record (MRP 1 screen).

control parameters can be set for the total planning run:

the creation indicator for the planning run (creation of purchase requisitions, MRP lists, and so on)

the planning horizon

the consumption mode

The following is valid for total planning and single-item planning:

for all materials without an MRP group, the system uses the plant parameters, or the entries in the initial screen of the planning run

for all materials with an MRP group, the system uses the parameters recorded in the MRP group

Hi,

1. MRP group has some specific parameter which is not available in Plant parameter.

2. For planning parameter, MRP group has higher priority than initial screen of MRP run which is entered in MD02 screen.

3. With MRP group you can combine some types of material.

4. We can link MRP group with Material type, so system will automatically set that MRP group in material master while creating.

5. You can combine upto seven strategy by MRP group.

6. MRP group has higher priority than Plant parameter.
