Extraction Translaction Type using Load from Data Stream method

Hi,

We are on SEM-BCS 4.0. We are using staging cube to extract data into BCS. In staging cube we have 0TRANSTYPE (Assets Transaction Type). We want to extract this field as movement type in BCS based on GL condition.

However, in Load from Data Stream method > Mapping > TTy > we do not see 0TRANSTYPE in source field mapping.

0TRSNSTYPE is not a navigational attribute in staging cube. It is defined as a charateristic.

However, 0TRANSTYPE__0SHEET_GRP is a navigational attribute in staging cube.

One more information, might be useful:

0TRANSTYPE was recently added to staging cube as a char and in dimension. data was dropped and re-loaded but no change in Data basis. BCS is live for last few years.

Please confirm that this source databasis is included into your data basis.

Does your last phrase mean that no changes in configuration is acceptable?

Yes, the source databasis is included in data basis. No, if needed changes can be done. (Not sure if changing databasis is advisable after go-live if needed)

I think that the obvious and trivial settings in the LFDS settings have been done properly. We'll leave it for a while.

Now, please goto your source data basis, Column Heading column. Do you see the problematic inffobject in there?

Yes, 0TRANSTYPE infoobject is there in Source Data basis > Column Headings.

However, out of three coloumn for it viz Field Name, Length and Heading, Heading is blank.

UR, do you have blank (empty) rows in the dropdown menu in LFDS mapping?

Then you should see this IO in the mapping.

Anyway,

1). Check your settings in the method.

2). If doesn't help, then try to regenerate data basis, ConsArea etc. Everything related to data collection. Some strange and not understandable errors happen from time to time.

As you suggested, it looks like I need to regenerate data basis. However, I want to know what is impact of regenerating databasis on existing data of differenet data streams. Will it be lost? Can you please advise.

Data will only be lost when a characteristic is removed from the datamodel or cons area. Otherwise it should remain intact.

Data streams are just different location of different values, mainly AFD. Data basis regeneration affects only totals cube (RFD mainly). data streams and totals cube are independent.
