Hi Friends,

We need to install latest support packages on our system. we are under the following support packages

ST 400 0010

ST-SER 700_2005_3

ST-PI 2005_1_700

ST-A/PI 01I_CRM500

we have to install the following packages

ST 400 0016

ST-SER 700_2008_1 0002

ST-PI 2005_1_700 0007

ST-A/PI 01K_CRM560

My question is if i need to install the support package for e.g to ST 400 0016 ,

then do i need to install all the levels ST 400 0011, ST 400 0012, ST 400 0013, ST 400 0014, ST 400 0015 or

can I just install directly the support package level ST 400 0016 .

Please help me .

Hello,

You can download in which ever sequence you want from service market place to your local drive. But apply them in sequence.

Generally, support packs are applied first in development, then quality and then production. You didnt specify if this is followed or not. If followed, apply in the same way as you did for Development and Quality. If not you need to be very cautious of various customizations and other changes that might have happend and transported in your company.

Hi,

Yes. you have to apply like ST 400 0011, ST 400 0012, ST 400 0013, ST 400 0014, ST 400 0015 and ST 400 0016.

Support packages are cumulative, you have to download all the levels upto your target level.

Before applying,check the dependency and put all into one queue and apply.

Friends, please help me whether i have downloaded in sequence or if i am missing anything in the sequence, as this is a prd system i am little bit careful.

Can i install all at a time in a queue.

you should test this out in a DEV and QAS server first.

never implement support packs on PRD directly. it is just too dangerous.

Hi Friends,

This is a solution manager system , there is only system in solution manager. (this one system is all dev,qa and prd)

We have to apply the support packages there is no way to test it because we have only one system.

My question is in solution manger normally they use maintence optimizer to download the packages and install them.

Can i download the pacakages from SAP directly and install as we install in the ECC or R/3 or is it compulsory to follow the maintaince optimizer.

pl help.

you can download directly (from your download basked in the service marketplace) but you NEED to use the Solution Manager to confirm the packages to be downloaded.

This is done using Maintenance Optimizer (also for the SolMan itself).

you can bypass Maintenance optimizer by going in SE37 and running a single test on /TMWFLOW/MO_UI_BASKET_AUTHORIZ

I have installed support packages in R/3,BW. but for solution manager this is the first time i am so confused.

if i by pass that function module /TMWFLOW/MO_UI_BASKET_AUTHORIZ, what exactly happens.

However iam trying to download the files in the manintaince optimizer, once i download, is it the same way to install the packages in the R/3 or there any other things to consider.

when bypassing, you save about a dozen steps that the wizard forces you to do through.

the function module enables you to confirm download basket. it saves you a lot of time.

installing patches in SolMan or R/3 is the same process.

you need to install all of them in sequence. in most cases, you can put all of them in the same queue.

note that in order to install ST-A/PI 01K_CRM560 , you must do it through SAINT, not SPAM

for the rest, go through SPAM.
