Depreciation by net book value

Hi,

SAP caluculates depreciaiton taking APC as basis for Useful Life .

Can we use Net Book Value (NBV) for the remaining life instead of APC.

Because standard keys calculate depreciation taking APC for remaining life of asset.

What changes are required for the standard keys.

Any Thoughts

HI

I had the same issue and have doing following settings for depreciation in order to calculate depreciation based on NBV instead on ACQ value

Dep. key LINR Str.-line from rem.life to book value zero

DepType : ord dep

Phase: from start of dep

Base method 0011 Ordinary: percentage from useful life

Decl.-bal. method 001 0.00x / 0.0000% / 0.0000%

Prd cont Z01 Serco Period Control

Multilev.meth. 001 0.0000%

Class : straight line

In multi level Method Ia ssume the base value would be 01 (Acq Value). Instead of 01 please select 27 (Net book value with proportional value adjustemnts).

This will solve your issue.

Thanks

Thanks Sanjeev,

I changed the settings accordingly .

I did some test by creating leagcy assets

Example:

APC : 10000

Ord.dep. for the year till current period : 300.

NBV : 9700

but the system does the catch up in next period with correct depreciation.

I was assuming that system will take 9700 and depreciate in remaining useful life.

Is there any hting else taken care off

Thanks for the Input

Hi,

it takes the net book value from fiscal year start and distributes it over the remaining life. If you have a newly capizalized asset, it takes the APC amount in this year and distributes it evenly over the remaining life. If you do not use time-dependent depreciation parameters in the new depreciation calculation, then the system will apply this method for the complete open fiscal year, and not as of a certain date within the fiscal year.
