What is meant by Cost of Sales Accounting? How it is useful in SAP? What are all the configuration steps we have to do for that?

Hello Saritha,

If you are interested to learn the concept of Cost of Sales Accounting, you are most welcome to read the above referred excellent stuff. But it is almost not possible to realize the concept in real life business scenarios. Hence my advice would be not to use it.

Please read the IMG activity documentation on the following node in SPRO

Financial Accounting -> Financial Accounting Global Settings -> Company Code -> Cost of Sales Accounting. The concept is explained very well.

Basically, you achieve cost of sales accounting in SAP by defining functional areas, activating cost of sales accounting, assigning functional areas to various objects (master data) and defining substitutions for deriving functional area in transactions.
