Hi,
On an R/3 4.7 system, we programmed access to COVP and have found that access on large volumes of data is taking a considerable time (e.g. 1.5 to 2 hours). Having changed the Select to a join on the two constituent tables (COEP which has 300m rows and COBK which has 150m rows), the run times have come down to between 9 and 120 seconds.
Can anyone advise please as COVP is used by other bespoke programs and by SAP programs (e.g. Line Item reports such as txn CJI3), and hence we would like to understand the root cause.
Kind regards,
Robin

Hi Anil,
Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately I do not see how this helps me answer my question, namely why does COVP access take so long when compared to a select join on its constituent tables COEP and COBK.

Thank you Amit,
SAP Note 111875 is not relevent to V4.7.
SAP Note 115219 is interesting but for the COEP access, the same index is used whether selecting by COVP or COEP joined to COBK.
I have looked at other notes but none seem to answer our problem.
Kind regards, Robin
