Support Package taking long time

i installed Ides ERP 2005 server, and the SAP_BASIS & SAP_ABA patch levels was level 5, when i tried to import SAP_BASIS level 6 (SAPKB70006) it is taking a very long time in import_proper phase, i tried to run the import in the background but still the same problem, also when i opened transaction SM50 i found one background work process on hold for very long time on report SAPLSTPAand the others are waiting status, can anyone help me to solve this issue?

As long as the import logs are updating there is nothing to worry at the moment.

The reasons for slow import can be due to your hadware,SAP and DB configurations.Ensure that there is enough free space for the tablespaces.

the import logs is not updated, and also my ardware is good the server is 8 GB of RAM, swap 22 GB, hard disk 1000 GB and processor Quad

Hi,

Check which jobs is in active state under SM37 for user DDIC.

I'm not asking about to use DDIC user for importing support package.

I'm asking to check that which background job is running for ddic user , check it using tcode SM37

don't use DDIC user to import support package.

there is no job active for user ddic.

Do you see harddisk activity? What is the machine doing? Is your archive log directory full?

there is no activity on the hard disk, also the archive log is not full as i just installed the system today

So the system is just using CPU? which process is consuming the CPU?

Did you find any dump during this period? check it using ST22
