Dear,

If your plant is active for the MRP. When you create the material master with MRP view then system will automatically create the Planning file entry.

Before creating planning file entry please check if MRP is active for the plant in transaction OMDU.

For planning file entry use the following transactions,

MD20 Create planning file entry manually

MD21 Display planning file entry

MDAB Set up planning file entry in background

MDRE Check planning file entry

Please follow below links:

Hi,

Pls find the details about Planning File Entry :

1.Planning files entries is the first step which checks by the MRP during the MRP run. if no entries are

found for the selected parts then MRP will not plans these parts. You can create/check the planning files

entries from T Codes-MD20/MD21.

2.Planning file entries will be created automatically when you enter the relevent MRP type (example PD) in

the material master MRP1 view. OR when there was a change relevent to MRP like stock change due to

moveement type/GR/GI or change in material master data.

3.You can run planning file entries consistency check in background before the MRP run to create/delete

the planning file entreies automatically from MDRE/MDAB transactions...This will be useful to avoid the re-

planning of the materials ( if planning file entry is not deleted after MRP run) and also to plan material (if

planning file entry is not created).

The following is taken from SAP help,

The planning mode is set automatically in the planning file. However, you can overwrite it in the initial screen of each planning run.

Planning Mode in the Planning File

Planning Mode 1

Planning mode 1 is if you have only set the planning file entries (net change planning indicator and net change planning horizon indicator) in the planning file for a material (see Planning Run Type).

In the planning run in planning mode 1 the system reactivates the existing planning data, that is, procurement proposals that are not firmed remain on the database and are only then adapted, if the dates and quantities do not suit the new planning situation. The system only re-explodes the BOM for adjusted procurement proposals. System performance is thus improved.

Example of changes that cause planning mode 1 to be set:

Changes in date and quantity

Requirement changes

Changes in the lot-sizing procedure or MRP type

Planning Mode 2

Planning mode 2 is if a material has planning file entries and the Re-explode BOM indicator is also set in the planning file.

In the planning run in planning mode 2, the system re-explodes the BOMs for all existing procurement proposals that are not firmed and also for those, for which the dates and quantities do not have to be adjusted.

Example of changes that cause planning mode 2 to be set:

Changes to the material BOM

Changes to the sales order BOM

Changes to the phantom assembly BOM

Changes to references assigned within BOM

Changes to material classification

Change of production version in material master or planned order

Change or conversion of BOM explosion number

Planning Mode 3

Planning mode 3 is if a material has planning file entries and the Reset order proposals indicator is also set in the planning file.

In planning mode 3 existing procurement proposals that are not firmed are completely deleted from the database and recreated. The system then re-explodes the BOMs.

Example of changes that cause planning mode 3 to be set:

In-house production time

Planned delivery time

Scheduling margin key

MRP controller

No Planning File Entry

The following types of changes do not cause a planning file entry:

Customizing, such as changes in purchasing department processing time in the plant parameters

MRP-relevant changes to the routing, such as change in the standard time

HOpe this helps.

Hi,

Once MRP is activated for Plant system will maintain Planing File entry automatically.

But if Materials are created earlier then MRP is activated at plant level then you have to maintain it manually either by MD20 or by using Back Ground job MDAB.

Hi,

For the first time (just before Go-live), it is advisable to create the Planning file entries mnually and execute the MRP.. This is to reduce the inconsistencies..

But, system will automatically Creates the Planning File entry, if the Material is relevnt for planning.

First time MRP Run with NEUPL will not consider the planning file entries..

So, after that every thing will be stream lined.

In rare cases systm may miss the entering the Material details in the Planning file..

Siva
