Switch from Discrete to Repetitive Manufacturing

Former Member

Hi,

I was wondering if this was possible. Can we switch from Discrete to Repetitive manufacturing?

What are the effort? What needs to be change?

Material master?

Work Center?

Do we have to create new master data or can we only change what we have?

Let me know if you have any documentation.

Thanks for your help.

David

Hi

What is the scenario to change ?

Is it real scenario in the project Or is it for academic purpose?

You have to llok at FI/CO side also.

Hi,

This is for a real project. All plants are now configured as Discrete. They have a new plant which they want to do discrete again and maybe switch to REM later next year.

How much effort would that be?

It this a complete new project or can we just use all previous master data?

Let me know.

Thanks

David

Dear David,

Master Data for Discrete scenario is the Material master, BOM, Work centers, Routing & if required

Production versions also.

So once when decided to move from Discrete to REM scenario, the same Material Master, BOM & work

centers can be used. Here in addition we have to create Rate routing(Same routing can also be used,as

internally structure wise they are same) for the In-house manufactured HALB & FERT materials.

REM Allowed indicator & REM profile has to be mentioned for all the Inhouse manufactured items.

Then we have to proceed with Production version for combining the BOM & Rate Routing, then creating

Product Cost collector through KKF6N.---> Cost Rollup using CK40N.

This depends on the material count, instead of converting all the materials from discrete to REM in one

shot, atleast periodically if you try to do it will be easy.

Otherwise you have to do all the settlement things for a period end and the next period you have to shift to

REM.

Check & Revert back.

Dear David,

First check this link to understand the basic differences between REM & discrete scenario,

[REM & Discrete Scenario's|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/erplo/discreteManufacturingVsRepetitiveManufacturing&]

1.Master data changes is ,for all the Inhouse Manufactured items (Procurement Type - E) alone we have to

mention the REM Profile and REM allowed tick mark in MRP4 view in the material master.

2. REM profile's have to be created in T Code OSP2.

3.Production version's have to be created for all the Inhouse manufactured products.(BOM+Routing/Rate

routing).either using MM02 by selecting the MRP4 view and clicking on production version button or else

using T code C223.

4.Once after creating production versions ,then product cost collectors have to be created for all the

Inhouse manufactured products using T code KKF6N.

5. If in the REM profile if you have included under cost accounting backflush using standard cost estimae

of the material, then you have to take the cost rollup using T code CK40N.

The above are the master data changes.

Check & revert back.
