SAP 2005 to 2007 upgrade - Update Control Report

Hi,

We have setup a test server to see what will happen when we upgrade from B1 2005 to B1 2007.

The whole process went without any issues (except a user related issue which gas been passed to SAP).

Our current support company keep saying that the changes in 2007 can affect the journal system when upgrading and that there are special tools to use to see what gets affected, needs alter etc - is this true? does the upgrade process need manual intervention as they claim?

They did mention the Update Control Report which when run on our database show two tables with 1 record difference in each, these are:

JDT1 - Before Upgrade: 14394

JDT1 - After Upgrade: 14395

OJDT - Before Upgrade: 4808

OJDT - After Upgrade: 4809

When we look at the different record its details are: Balancing Upgrade Journal Transaction - Internal R and has created a Internal Reconciliation Upgrade Audit Trail Report for one BP customer of £14.48.

Is this a normal action from the upgrade? or do we really need expert advise/guidance to proceed onto the live system.

Any help is much appreciated

Kind Regards

Matthew

Hi Matthew,

version 2007 has a completely rewritten internal reconciliation that replaces the prior separate reconciliation engines on marketing document & journal entry level. Every journal entry is rebuilt duering the upgrade & the database subjected to a quite complicate internal recoiciliation upgrade (IRU).

Any reconciliation inconsistency will be identified & a new type of journal entry automatically created for it. That is the reason that there are more journal entries in your db after the upgrade. In your db there is a single inconsistency found, hence 1 journal.

Please go to Administration -> Utilities -> Inconsistency Audit Trail Selection Criteria. Clicking on 'OK' in that window while having no restrictions will reveal the journal that was created. Please consult the how-to-guide available for download from the [IRU landing page |http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000380562007E]on the nature of the upgrade journal.

If the journal is showing a significant amount in the 'balance due' column & has the description 'Balancing Upgrade Journal' , please log a support ticket.

All the best,

Kerstin
