Hi Anendu,

There aren't any migration steps that need to be taken between IIS and Tomcat, unless you have created your own custom front-end/portal to access InfoView.

Tomcat will use the Java InfoView while IIS will use the .NET InfoView.

I don't want to split hairs over semantics, but shouldn't it be "Java Infoview will use Tomcat and .NET Infoview will use IIS" ?

Yes Srini, you're correct thanks for clarifying that point, I think many could have misread that.

Hi all,

Thanks to all of you.

You guys have solved my problems to the extent.

In addition to this i would like to know about-

-->Is there any Risk During the Migration from Tomcat 5.0.27 to IIS 6.0?

if so what could be the mitigation plzn for that

-->What will be the impact on the Performance of the BO.?

-->What are the Vulnreability associated with IIS once it is installed.?

i am using BO XI R2 with SQL server 2005 as Database.

Thanks,

Anendu Bothra

This isn't a migration from Tomcat to IIS. You are merely installing the .NET WCA. There is no 'migration plan'.

I haven't seen any articles comparing performance between IIS and Tomcat. As far as I know, there should'nt be any major performance difference between IIS and Tomcat.

A few things to note; Tomcat (or a Java app server) is required for PM and Live Office or (correct me if I'm wrong) anything that requires a web service.

Thanks for the reply Srinivas,

Do i have any need of application change or Configuration change in BO,

after the Installation of IIS(.NET) WCA.

changes could be like infoView setting change,

universe desginer change.

Thanks,

Hi Anendu,

What exactly do you want to do? Do you just want to change the webserver/application server? Where is your BOE installed compared to where Tomcat and IIS are installed, same machine? different machine?

If you already have an existing installation of BOE XI, and you want to use a different application server, you just need to install the WCA and make sure it points to the correct CMS name. The WCA basically recognizes BOE requests and redirects those requests to the BOE environment.

Wallie

Please consider that IIS is not longer supported on BO XI R3, so your installation is not scalable.

Is it not supported now or will it never be supported?

I thought support for .NET was scheduled for an update (later this year)?

In [this|; thread, Tim Ziemba (also of SAP) indicated that .NET was expected in 3.1 (ETA Q4).

Correct Srinivas, there was no intention to not support IIS in 3.0 .net was simply scheduled for a later release (SP1).

Hi,

There is no migration per se from Tomcat to IIS.

This post presumes you're using XI R2.

A rough outline of the step to follow is as below:

1. Go to Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs

2. Click Change on BusinessObjects

3. Click Modify

4. Expand Server components

5. Expand Web Component Adapter

6. Install the .NET Web Component Adapter

7. Test Infoview, CMC and Admin Launchpad

8. Uninstall the Java WCA
